We decided to launch our ‘We Care’ initiative as we want to do our part to give back to society where we can.
Saying No To Animal Testing:
Each year, more than 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused during animal testing in US laboratories alone. The cosmetic industry is one of the major contributors to this statistic which uses small animals in clinical trials for beauty products. The EU, the world’s largest cosmetic market, has joined Norway, India and Israel in banning the sale of any cosmetics or cosmetics ingredients that have been tested on animals. While we would like to see the day when animal testing is banned globally, we think we can start making a difference locally first.
The founders of LUSH Aesthetics realized the gruesome reality of the industry they feel so passionately about, so we decided to create the ‘Bare Skin, Not Fur’ campaign.
The objective of the campaign is simple: to be an advocate for local aesthetic and cosmetic companies to get on the pro-animals bandwagon. At LUSH, we’re pro-animals and hold a high standard of ethics especially in the area of testing and ingredients, by abiding by the Humane Cosmetics Standard. All our products are organic, not tested on animals, or contain any animal by-products. We just don’t see why beauty should come at the expense of the welfare of animals.
Choice of suppliers:
LUSH’s in-house brand of products are carefully selected based on their manufacturing standards and ingredients, to ensure that no animal testing is done in any stage of production. Our founders conduct due dilligence checks periodically with our suppliers to ensure that they meet GMP standards and only high quality sources are used to formulate our products. All our sources are either FDA approved or local regulators to ensure safety and efficacy.
To really make an impact, we decided to create the ‘Bare Skin, Not Fur’ campaign. What is it about? The goal is to be an advocate for other aesthetic and cosmetic companies, to make a stand against animal testing.
How will we be doing this? For our first initiative, we kicked off a dog-walking event on 22nd August, from 3 to 7pm, along Orchard Road. We wanted to go with something fun and light-hearted, where dog lovers and owners could band together to support a cause. As we are, by existence, an aesthetic centre, we also be promoted our Super Hair Removal service, in conjunction with raising awareness of our stand against the use of fur in luxury products.
